Planet Earth. The Future. It’s been 415 years since the end of the global war. For hundreds of years people followed the same old motto: "Faster, higher, further."

In addition to significant scientific and technological developments, we have also conquered space. We're no longer anchored to one sun, we live among the stars now. It was always believed that people are alone in this universe, but we now know we are not. Other planets are out there.

People now seek pleasure inside of the Ocular system. Rose-tinted spectacles acting as a reward system that artificially stimulates the production of dopamine. It helps to keep the mind going when you are stationed out in any of the cold and barren galaxies. Artificial enjoyment has become reality for many.

From the first day a human is born, the system has already decided its pre-determined life. Not everyone is subject to this pre-selection, simply because the system is relatively new. Older generations are still free to traverse between reality and the virtual word.

I’m one of the old generation and I’m investigating a series of murders. People have been found completely naked, their body parts missing, and what's left of them is embedded with chips of unknown origin. These are not trivial deaths. Typical causes of death are epilepsy, heart ruptures and cardio-respiratory arrest associated with the effects of Ocular. Or worse, a slow psychosis followed by self sacrifice.

These deaths are very sinister and unusual, because the development of the world, the industry boost and the exploration of the universe has crime much more sophisticated. Hits on people's live are often carried out remotely by automated machines.

Right now I’m dealing with the revival of primitive methods. It cannot be stopped by pressing a button in the system. I’m the one who has to find the person committing these murders. The murderer is one of us, one of the old generation. The maniac is cunning and dangerous and the most chilling part is that he's not a synthetic illusion, he's a real and tangible horror that walks the streets.

I don't know what it is, but in DWTD's discography this record really stands out to me. Picking a favourite track is difficult because all of the songs sound incredible to me, but POISON is probably the most fresh and energetic song in my opinion. zWarhead
